Artexpress and Exhibition: Still Point are two of Sydney’s ongoing art exhibitions.
Photographer Robert McFarlane has been doing his craft of photographing Australia and Australians for over 50 years. Still Point is an exhibition from the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery which draws on his extensive archive as well as his private work – photographs which have never been published.
McFarlane is known for his iconic portraits and natural affinity for light. His images have a stillness and depth not always noticed as he takes people into intriguing visual spaces and encourages them to think about the world.
Still Point will be on exhibit until 24 March 2017 at the James Ruse Drive and Victoria Road Female Orphan School at Rydalmere.
The next exhibit you should definitely see is Artexpress. It is one of Art Gallery of NSW’s most popular annual exhibitions which showcases outstanding student artworks created by NSW students for their 2016 Higher School Certificate Visual Arts examination.
2017 marks the year that this free exhibition will showcase 28 outstanding complete bodies of work drawn from the 2016 cohort of 9,004 Visual Arts students from public and private school across the state.
The 38 works include ceramics, drawings, graphic design, painting, photomedia, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and fibre and time-based forms.
Artexpress will be on exhibit until 23 April 2017 at Art Gallery Road, Sydney.
